Good morning and welcome to the weekend – it’s going to be a beauty! Be sure to take advantage of every shining moment by awakening to your inner power; walk, run, jump for joy, hop, skip and don’t forget to squat!
The following post, written by the always eloquent and profound Keirsten Mooney, shares her thoughts on balancing peace and power. I’m proud to say she is my friend and the owner of Bala Vinyasa Yoga in Naples and Miami Florida. Be sure to step in for an awesome yoga experience the next time you’re in SW Florida.
I just taught a workshop called Awaken Your Inner Power at the Standard Spa in Miami. During the class I kept getting visions of lions peacefully resting with their cubs. Regardless of the power we all know they possess, these animals instinctively know when to use it to hunt for food or protect their territory. The rest of the time they are peaceful animals. They are not haphazard with their energy or instill their power without cause.
What I recognized during the course of that class is that power and peace are the same coin, just different sides. People who awaken to their power inherently awaken to their inner peace. Peace comes from knowing all is well, trusting all will be taken care of and that you have the capacity to move through any experience in your life with grace. Yet this pure peace comes from an inner power, as does the ability to thrive from and move on from anything and everything that happens. The great reward of cultivating our inner power is we become more compassionate and kinder. We see the world as wonderment and others for their gifts, not faults.
Power and peace comes from an internal cultivating. Although external work such as yoga and transformational tools help us awaken, we must ultimately generate it. Just as in your practice, to hold a pose or move through a flow requires a certain amount of physical power. The more proficient you get at the skill the less stress is caused and more peace is available. It is a jungle out there so awaken your inner power and peace will be yours!
